What we ate in NYC

1. Shake Shack - 8/10

Had been wanting to try Shake Shack for ages and couldn't wait to go to America to try it! However, when I got back, my friend informed me we have them in England (haha). It was very tasty however, and was fab for when we got to NYC after being on the plane for that long. The food came really quick and I really enjoyed the burger and the famous crinkle chips.
2. Katz Delicatessen - 8/10

This is probably one of the only food places I had heard of before visiting New York. The pastrami sandwich is incredible, however, it was quite pricey. Me and Casper decided to share one as they were around $22 each and we really didn't want to spend $44 dollars on sandwiches. We didn't even need two with the amount of meat they had in them! Half each was defiantly enough. We got to Katz Deli around half 11 in the morning which we quickly realised was good timing when tons of people started piling through the door at midday. Deffo somewhere I'd recommend but I'm sure there would be other places in the city to get a sandwich as good but for a cheaper price.
3. Timeout Market - 9/10

We visited the Timeout Market in the DUMBO region of Brooklyn for a quick drink originally. I had the most incredible one which was made with cider and gin!! My two favourite drinks so I jumped straight on that idea and ordered one. After a few, we began to get a bit hungry but didn't want too much to eat as it was getting towards late afternoon and didn't want to ruin our dinner. After a little exploring the market, we decided to stop at 'Mr Taka Ramen' where we had pork belly buns. I loveeee Bao buns anyway and these were so nice! Wish we'd discovered the market sooner as I would have loved to try other things from all the different food stalls.
4. Best Bagel & Coffee - 10/10

OMG these bagels are amazing. Like, amazing doesn't even cut it. If we had have been in NYC longer, I would have 100% gone here loads more times. There was just so much smoked salmon which I love! I also added avocado to mine which added something a bit extra to it. All the bagels are freshly baked and they're so much better than anything I've tried in England. They had so many different types of bagels to choose from but I went for poppy seed which was incredible. Next time I'm in NYC, I'll be straight back here!
5. Tipsy Scoop - 8/10

Anyone who knows me, knows I love a good cocktail. These were alcoholic ice creams, some with cocktail flavours so right up my street. We got the 'boozy flight' which was four flavours of our choice to try. I can't remember how much this cost us but it was obviously more than regular ice cream with the alcohol content. All of them delicious and I will defiantly be back for more next time I get the chance to visit NYC. My favourite flavour was the 'hot buttered rum'!
6. Der Krung Thai Cuisine - 8/10

Der Krung was such a lovely meal. The atmosphere was so cosy with it having quite a small seating area. This restaurant is situated in the 'Hell's Kitchen' area of Manhattan which is right near Times Square. With it being so close to the main attractions, we expected a bigger price tag. However, the mains were around $10 (£8 ish) which is less than what we would expect to pay when eating out in our small home town. The food was amazing and I really enjoyed the overall experience when eating here.
7. Junior's Restaurant - 8/10

(Sorry, couldn't wait to take a picture before we ate some) The last time I was in New York, we visited the Junior's in Brooklyn which we were planning on visiting, however, turns out theres now one in Times Square which was so much closer to where we were staying. I'm not sure if its new or we just missed it last time. The cheesecake is what they're famous for which was obviously amazing. We went for the devils food cake one which I have been thinking about since my friend had it on our college trip. Defiantly recommend, however, we decided to share and nearly didn't finish it all as it was so rich. Like Katz, it was also a little on the pricey side but that was expected from a famous cheesecake place.
8. Habanero Blues - 9/10

Habanero Blues is a Mexican restaurant which was opposite our hotel in Midtown Manhattan. We went here on Valentine's Day which was our last night. We didn't feel like walking far and I'm glad we didn't because I really enjoyed the food. I enjoyed the vibe of the place even more. It had such a cool vibe with a live dj playing as it was Friday night. I enjoyed the music so much while we were eating and I defiantly would have been up for a dance if people weren't still eating. I also really enjoyed the cocktail I chose which had chilli in it. (Spicy cocktails are my new obsession and taste a lot nicer than you'd expect). I will 100% be back here next time!
Thank you so much for reading my first ever blog post and I hope it helped some of you who are planning on taking a trip to NYC at some point. These were my favourite places we went to and I hope anyone else who tries them agrees!
